Producing a number is easy; trusting one is hard

In analytics work the real question for us is not “which chart should we show” but “where does this number come from, and when is it wrong”.

A report's value starts with writing down which data and which definition produced it.

Definition comes firstBefore measuring a metric we write down its definition. What is an “active project”, and on what date does it count as closed?
The source is traceableEvery report carries which record it came from and when.
RepeatabilityThe same question, on the same data, gives the same answer.
Uncertainty is not hiddenIf data is missing the report says so; we do not fill the gap with an estimate.
Data minimisationWe do not collect personal data that the decision does not need.

The scope of work in this area is defined separately for each organisation. Under Data and Analytics we cover corporate research, documentation and reporting.

We start by mapping which definition your current reports are produced against.
